We Planned Your Next Beach Picnic

Warmer weather is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be luckier to be in one of the most beautiful cities to enjoy it. One of our favorite things to do when the sun is shining is to pack up our lunch for a beach picnic.

We get it, beach picnics can get complicated. You’ve got the kids, the umbrellas, the wagon full of toys… by the time you’re ready to start making the sandwiches, you’re about ready to abandon the idea altogether!

We’ve been there. That’s why we like to keep it simple with a few blankets and our favorite takeout dishes. In fact, we planned out your next beach picnic and a few of our favorite takeout items in this post to make it even easier on you!

Redondo Beach parks have beautiful grassy areas overlooking the water, perfect for enjoying a picnic.

The Beach Picnic Without Sand

Here is the ultimate mom hack: you can have a beach picnic without even touching the sand. Take the family to Veteran’s Park in Redondo Beach, where you can pick a grassy spot overlooking the calm waters of the South Bay. Walk down to the historic pier to watch paddle boarders cruise through the marina, and challenge the little ones to find sea lions as they frequently pop their heads out of the water!

Since you don’t have to worry about sand in your sauce, we recommend bringing along an order of our Rigatoni al Pesto for the adults and Luca’s Pasta for the kiddos. They are the perfect picnic pasta for just a fork – no spoon or knife needed.

The Quiet Beach Picnic

For those looking for a traditional beach spot but somewhere less crowded, we love the quiet and serene atmosphere of Torrance Beach. Fewer beachgoers frequent these shores, which makes it a more peaceful afternoon. It’s also home to the picturesque Palos Verdes cliffs, which provide a scenic backdrop for your family selfie!

With fewer people kicking up sand on this beach, we recommend this for an afternoon date picnic. Bring along our Focaccia bread with the works – burrata cheese and prosciutto. You’ll feel like you’re on the Amalfi coast!

The Traditional Beach Picnic

If you’re going for a SoCal vibe, active yet laid-back beach picnic, we love the buzz and activity in Hermosa Beach. Watch surfers and volleyball players in the sunshine from your beach blanket, and finish off your afternoon with a stroll down the Strand. Hermosa is the perfect spot for dolphin sighting for the kiddos joining the picnic!

If you’re going for a traditional picnic, we recommend keeping it to the finger foods. Bring along our Chicken Panini for the grown-ups and Blakey’s Chicken Tenders for the little ones.
