(Yes, That’s a Thing, Even in January)
January is that weird time of year when you want comfort food…
…but also don’t want to immediately regret it.
Good news: Italian food already figured this out centuries ago. Comfort doesn’t have to mean heavy, and winter food doesn’t have to feel like you need a nap and a sweater afterward. At Bettolino Kitchen, we lean into dishes that are warm, satisfying, and cozy, without putting you into a food coma.
Here are a few winter favorites that prove comfort can still feel light.
Cioppino
Think: hug in a bowl, but make it seafood.
Our Cioppino is packed with mussels, clams, calamari, sea bass, and shrimp, simmered in a white wine tomato broth with garlic, fresh herbs, and rosemary croutons. It’s rich, warming, and deeply flavorful, yet surprisingly light thanks to all that beautiful seafood.
Translation: you feel cozy… not stuffed.

Polipo
If you’ve never had octopus in the winter, let us politely insist.
Our Spanish octopus is tender (not chewy, we promise), sliced thin, and paired with cannellini beans, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and a bright lemon-garlic sauce. It’s hearty enough to feel satisfying, but fresh enough to make you feel like you made a very responsible appetizer choice.
You did. We’re proud of you.

Finocchio
This salad is the quiet overachiever.
Wild arugula, shaved fennel, shaved parmesan, fresh lemon, and olive oil that’s it. Crisp, bright, and refreshing, this is the dish that balances everything else on the table and makes winter feel a little less… wintery.
It’s simple. It works. It belongs here.

Yes, You Can Still Have Pasta
We wouldn’t be an Italian restaurant if we told you otherwise.
Our pasta is made with 00 flour imported from Italy and high-protein semolina, which gives it structure, flavor, and yes more protein than your average pasta. It’s crafted to be satisfying without spiking your blood sugar, meaning you get that comforting pasta moment without the crash.
In other words:
✔️ Real pasta
✔️ Thoughtfully made
✔️ No guilt, no lectures
Just the way Italians intended.

Comfort Food, Bettolino Style
Winter food should make you feel warm, happy, and taken care of, not weighed down. These dishes hit that sweet spot between cozy and fresh, indulgent and balanced.
So if January has you craving comfort but also trying to “be good,” come sit with us. We’ll take it from here.
