Our Kitchen Drive: Sharing More Than Food with A Sense of Home

At Bettolino Kitchen, we’ve always believed that the most magical moments in life happen around the table. It’s where laughter is shared, stories are told, and memories are created.

Our love for food has always been compatible with our love for family, and we know that the warmth of home often centers around a well-prepared meal. That’s why we’ve chosen to do our fall donation drive with A Sense of Home, a South Bay local charitable organization that creates first-ever homes for youth aging out of foster care, many of whom have their own children, with donated furniture and home goods to prevent homelessness.

Providing More than Just a Home

A Sense of Home knows that furniture poverty greatly impedes an individual or family’s ability to properly inhabit or function in their shelter, undermining their health and productivity in work and school. For these young adults who are already disenfranchised, the transition into independent living can be incredibly challenging, as they often lack the basic household items that many of us take for granted. A Sense of Home steps in to bridge this gap by collecting donated home goods and transforming empty spaces into welcoming and fully furnished homes.

Finding Home Around the Table

Food isn’t just sustenance; it’s a conduit for connection and a symbol of love. Around our restaurant tables, we’ve witnessed countless families and friends come together to enjoy delicious meals and create lasting memories. We’ve seen firsthand how the act of breaking bread can transform strangers into friends and acquaintances into family. It’s this very sense of family that we want to extend to everyone to have access to in their own home, by having access to basic kitchen items.

As a restaurant that celebrates the power of food and family, we understand the importance of having a place where you feel safe, loved, and at home. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the warmth and comfort of a home, especially for foster youth experiencing an intense period of transition. Our partnership with A Sense of Home allows us to extend our love for food and family beyond our restaurant’s walls and into the lives of those who need it most.

Many of the youth that A Sense of Home serves have children of their own. By participating in our kitchen goods drive, you’re directly supporting the prevention of their homelessness.

How You Can Help

We invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavor by contributing to our donation drive. We are collecting kitchen items to help furnish the kitchens of these young adults as they embark on their journey towards independent living. Your generosity will not only provide essential items but also send a powerful message that they are not alone on this path.
